EKIS is the creation of singer/songwriter Jay Ekis who resides in Montpelier, Vermont. Their highly danceable rock/world-pop style of original music combines edgy Americana with hypnotic beats and melodies reminiscent of the music of Africa and Jamaica; "imagine Paul Simon and Dave Matthews' rural love-child and you're almost there." (Casey Rea, Seven Days)
Together with easily danceable rhythms, well-crafted songs, and an exciting live show, EKIS has entertained audiences throughout Vermont since 1999.
EKIS' debut CD "The Hidden Jar" (May 2005) was a collaboration of talent from the core trio of Jay Ekis, vocals/guitar, Rudy Dauth, bass, and Carter Stowell, drums, accompanied by special guests who frequently join the band in live performances.
